As we study the history of Israel, we hold in mind that they are God's covenant people. They we in the third month of their journey, when they came to the wilderness of Sinai. Because they were still spiritually dead, a law must be given to them that was to govern every phase of their lives, and Israel must decide and make known whether they will obey Him as their covenant God. (Exodus 19:1-8)
Because of God's desire to dwell with His covenant people, He gave them instructions for the building of the tabernacle. This tabernacle was to be a type of Christ and the redemption He wrought for man. Therefore every detail had to be according to His exact pattern.
