BBC Lesson 5 "Man's Need of Righteousness"

Writer: Kimberly TilleyKimberly Tilley

Hebrews 1:3 (KJV) 3 Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high;

He upholds all things by His Word. Man needed righteousness because Adam had handed all of his authority, which was given to him by God, over to Satan. Adam had the legal right to give it away, but that meant that for God to be able to redeem man, He had to do it through legal means.

This is the Bible Study, "The Bible in the Light of our Redemption," by E.W. Kenyon, which we started during quarantine. The book is available on Amazon, and it is an amazing way to build up our foundational beliefs that have maybe gotten skewed by "the traditions of man," or were just never put in place to begin with. I hope that you will join us in our journey to fall in love with God all over again.

The Scriptures that go with the chapter:

Romans 3:26 (AMP) 26 It was to demonstrate and prove at the present time (in the now season) that He Himself is righteous and that He justifies and accepts as righteous him who has [true] faith in Jesus.

Matthew 25:41 (HCSB) 41 Then He will also say to those on the left, ‘Depart from Me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the Devil and his angels!

Romans 1:18 (AMP) 18 For God's [holy] wrath and indignation are revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who in their wickedness repress and hinder the truth and make it inoperative.

Romans 3:10 (KJV) 10 As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:

Romans 5:16 (NLT2) 16 And the result of God’s gracious gift is very different from the result of that one man’s sin. For Adam’s sin led to condemnation, but God’s free gift leads to our being made right with God, even though we are guilty of many sins.

Romans 5:19 (KJV) 19 For as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous.

Romans 5:18 (NLT2) 18 Yes, Adam’s one sin brings condemnation for everyone, but Christ’s one act of righteousness brings a right relationship with God and new life for everyone.

John 16:7-11 (HCSB) 7 Nevertheless, I am telling you the truth. It is for your benefit that I go away, because if I don’t go away the Counselor will not come to you. If I go, I will send Him to you. 8 When He comes, He will convict the world about sin, righteousness, and judgment: 9 About sin, because they do not believe in Me; 10 about righteousness, because I am going to the Father and you will no longer see Me; 11 and about judgment, because the ruler of this world has been judged.

John 3:36 (HCSB) 36 The one who believes in the Son has eternal life, but the one who refuses to believe in the Son will not see life; instead, the wrath of God remains on him.

Psalm 9:17 (AMP) 17 The wicked shall be turned back [headlong into premature death] into Sheol (the place of the departed spirits of the wicked), even all the nations that forget or are forgetful of God.

Revelation 20:15 (HCSB) 15 And anyone not found written in the book of life was thrown into the lake of fire.

2 Peter 2:4 (KJV) 4 For if God spared not the angels that sinned, but cast them down to hell, and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved unto judgment;

Ephesians 2:12 (HCSB) 12 At that time you were without the Messiah, excluded from the citizenship of Israel, and foreigners to the covenants of the promise, without hope and without God in the world.

Isaiah 59:16 (AMP) 16 And He saw that there was no man and wondered that there was no intercessor [no one to intervene on behalf of truth and right]; therefore His own arm brought Him victory, and His own righteousness [having the Spirit without measure] sustained Him.

Romans 3:20 (NLT2) 20 For no one can ever be made right with God by doing what the law commands. The law simply shows us how sinful we are.

1 John 3:10 (AMP) 10 By this it is made clear who take their nature from God and are His children and who take their nature from the devil and are his children: no one who does not practice righteousness [who does not conform to God's will in purpose, thought, and action] is of God; neither is anyone who does not love his brother (his fellow believer in Christ).

John 8:34 (AMP) 34 Jesus answered them, I assure you, most solemnly I tell you, Whoever commits and practices sin is the slave of sin.

Ephesians 2:2-3 (NLT2) 2 You used to live in sin, just like the rest of the world, obeying the devil—the commander of the powers in the unseen world. He is the spirit at work in the hearts of those who refuse to obey God. 3 All of us used to live that way, following the passionate desires and inclinations of our sinful nature. By our very nature we were subject to God’s anger, just like everyone else.

Colossians 1:13 (AMP) 13 [The Father] has delivered and drawn us to Himself out of the control and the dominion of darkness and has transferred us into the kingdom of the Son of His love,

Hebrews 2:14-15 (KJV) 14 Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil; 15 And deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.

John 8:29 (KJV) 29 And he that sent me is with me: the Father hath not left me alone; for I do always those things that please him.

2 Corinthians 5:21 (KJV) 21 For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

Isaiah 53:4-6 (KJV) 4 Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. 5 But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. 6 All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.

Romans 4:25 (KJV) 25 Who was delivered for our offences, and was raised again for our justification.

Colossians 2:15 (KJV) 15 And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it.

Hebrews 2:14-15 (HCSB) 14 Now since the children have flesh and blood in common, Jesus also shared in these, so that through His death He might destroy the one holding the power of death—that is, the Devil— 15 and free those who were held in slavery all their lives by the fear of death.

Philippians 2:9-10 (KJV) 9 Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: 10 That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;

Revelation 1:18 (KJV) 18 I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death.
